HOW DOES DBD BIPOLAR IONIZATION WORK?

Ion charge molecules or atoms contained in the presence of these ions in nature, the ions only have a survival time of 30~300 seconds, but they are very active. The ion density range from 900~1100 negative ions and 1000~1200 positive ions per cubic centimeter (/cm3 ion) in the "fresh air" at the top of a mountain, and at sea we usually experience 500 negative ions and 600 positive ions per cubic centimeter [ion /cm3]. In a city building the ion levels could fall by 80% to 95%, this is extremely low levels therefore it creates a breeding ground for bacteria and mold spores, and transmission of viruses and pathogens.

Working Principle
Bipolar Ionization purification system uses a specific voltage to convert electrons in particulate atoms in the air into charged ions. When air passes through the ionization tube, millions of positive and negative ions are formed. The negative ions contain an extra electron while the positive ions are missing an electron resulting in an unstable condition. In an effort to re stabilize, these bipolar ions seek out atoms and molecules in the air to trade electrons with, effectively neutralizing particulate matter, bacteria and virus cells, odorous gases and aerosols, and VOCs.

Working Method
Comparison Bipolar ionization technology provides a complete working solution because it treats the air inside the occupied space where the source of the contaminates are produced.
1) HEPA filters add significant pressure drop resulting in larger horsepower motors and increased fan energy.
2) Carbon has high first cost, additional space requirements in the air handling units and prohibitive media replacement costs.
3) At high levels, UV can create noxious gases and is mutagenic. Bacteria kill rates are negligible with no effectiveness in the occupied space.
4) PCO can produce formaldehyde.
